 Creator of Standard Music Notation
by an Italian Monk named Guido Monaco who wanted to communicate to other monks how to sing Gregorian chant. His theoretical work "Micrologus" was published in 1025 and it became the standard after the pope got wind of this new method of notation.

I participated in symphony orchestras all throughout high school, was in the Tempe Symphony in Arizona, and even received music scholarships to various colleges, which I ultimately turned down to study engineering at Penn State.

When I got to college, classical wasn’t cool, so I decided to teach myself how to play the guitar. I discovered sites like ultimate-guitar.com, and saw how easy it was to learn songs because of guitar tablature, or Guitar Tab for short.

Tablature (tab) is a form of musical notation indicating instrument fingering rather than musical pitches. It indicates where and when a finger should be placed to generate a note.

Guitar Tab has existed since the 1300's and was specifically designed to be visual and intuitive, and is much easier to learn and play compared to Standard Notation.
